Big children's and family day on 8 July 2018: Fun, games and excitement at Mercedes-Benz Museum

As the closing event of this year's #mercedesbenz Summer of Concerts #mercedesbenzmuseum is putting on numerous, free attractions and offering free admission to the permanent exhibition as part of the big children's and family day on Sunday, 8 July 2018. Highlights include artistic cycling shows, a walking piano, improvisation theatre and magic shows. Also attending: Swabian cult cartoon characters "Äffle und Pferdle" and "Fritzle", the mascot of VfB Stuttgart. The cross-brand Cars & Coffee classic car meeting will also be taking place in parallel, featuring interview guest Ellen Lohr.

Stuttgart. The participation and entertainment programme at #mercedesbenz Museum's big children's and family day on the second Sunday in July is all-encompassing and varied. All shows will take place at several points throughout the day. The programme at the museum kicks off at 9 am. The outdoor programme will start at 11 am and if the weather is poor, events will be moved to inside the museum (Atrium and great hall). Admission is free and includes access to the permanent exhibition. The event will only conclude at 6 pm. The marching band FOLLOW MEs will be providing musical entertainment.

Here are some highlights of the children's and family day at #mercedesbenzmuseum on Sunday, 8 July 2018, at a glance.

  • "Viola Brand Loves Cycling" – is the title of the amazing, artistic cycling show in the Atrium staged by the artistic cycling world championship runner up.
  • Giant walking piano provided by the duo Mr. Piano. The show will also be staged in the Atrium where the artists will play the right keys.
  • Amazing magic tricks? Illusionist Alexander Straub masters this form of art and stages a skillful and amusing show.
  • Driving like adults? Made possible as part of the children's driving school, including theory lessons and practical exercises.
  • Tigerenten Rodeo ("tiger duck rodeo", famous German children's literary character) invites you to a wild ride. Who can stay on the tiger duck longest?
  • "Äffle und Pferdle" and "Fritzle", VfB Stuttgart's mascot, will also be attending the children's and family day.
  • "Kanonenfutter" improvisation theatre company turns spontaneous situations into the best entertainment.
  • Mr. Monopoly: roll the dice at #mercedesbenz Museum's shop. Roll a double to win a Monopoly #mercedesbenz Classic version.
  • See the museum from a different perspective at behind-the-scenes tours (duration: 60 minutes).
  • Children's tours of the permanent exhibition for two age groups (3 to 5 and 9 to 11 years of age).
  • Visitors will also be able to take a tour of the stadium of VfB Stuttgart. Sign up with the #mercedesbenzmuseum team at the fountain below Museum Hill. This will also be the venue for the football target practise.
  • A football bouncy castle for everyone who likes to bounce around.
  • Under the motto "30 Years of DTM", contestants can qualify for the last spot in the final of the "Museum Special“ of the international "Mercedes-AMG Motorsport eRacing Competition“. The final of the computer game racing simulation will take place at 5.30 pm. The fastest driver of the "Museum Special" will be invited to the eRacing final at Hockenheimring race track in October.
  • Arrive in style with a classic O 3500 bus, manufactured in 1950, if you prefer not to travel to the event on 8 July by car or public transport. The bus will be running between museum and Schlossplatz from 11 am to 7 pm.
  • Rides in classic cars are also on the agenda.
  • Cross-brand Cars & Coffee classic car meeting with racing driver Ellen Lohr as the interview guest talking about "a passion for collecting".
  • We will be showing the Formula 1 race from Silverstone, UK, live from 2.45 pm on an LED screen.

The ALL TIME STARS summer lounge will be set up outside the #mercedesbenzmuseum to provide food and drinks at the children's and family fay. The lounge will provide cool drinks, summer food and specials. Opening times are Tuesday to Saturday from 11.30 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm, or longer depending on the weather and event.
