MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at Laguna Seca, USA.

The Laguna Seca Raceway (USA), with the legendary Corkscrew turn, hosted the eighth round of the season in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK). On the track near the Californian city of Monterey, Loris Baz (FRA) and the Gulf Althea #BMW Team secured a top-ten spot. However, the Frenchman was unlucky on Saturday. In the crucial Superpole 2, Baz had to make do with twelfth place on the grid after a fall. In the race he fell again on lap three, but Baz was able to keep riding and managed to salvage a point for finishing in 15th place. In the race on Sunday, he worked his way up the field with a few overtaking manoeuvres in the race, finishing in tenth to secure a top-ten spot.

Starting from second on the grid, Morales took the lead immediately and retained it right to the end of the race. After this win, Morales is the sole leader in the championship standings.

Carmelo Morales: “The race was very demanding physically because it was extremely hot. I’m very pleased with the result, I was able to push 100 percent right to the end. Big thanks go to the team and to #BMW, they provided me with a winning bike. This has given us a lot of confidence for the coming races.”
