G-Drive Racing Claims LMP2 Victory on Dunlop

G-Drive Racing’s #26 Oreca, driven by #romanrusinov, Andrea Pizzitola and Jean-Eric Vergne, claimed a dominant LMP2 class win in this weekend’s 24 Hours of #lemans. Signatech Alpine Matmut and Graff-SO24 completed the podium. The top six finishers had all chosen to compete on Dunlop tyres.

G-Drive Racing took the lead on lap ten and led to the end - the remaining 359 laps and all but 36 minutes of the 24 hours of racing. The squad had a trouble-free run, triple stinting the drivers and tyres to adapt to the 2018 regulations. Dunlop teams chose to race with a wide variety of strategies including all ‘A’/soft, all ‘B’/medium and left/right and front/rear splits between the two. Several teams also chose to quadruple stint.

The race formed the second round of the FIA World #endurance Championship Super Season. Signatech Alpine was the highest championship-registered team eligible for points and moves into the lead in the title standings. TDS Racing, car #28, finished in fourth place, just 2.539 seconds from a podium place, is the second highest points scorer and is now second in the points table.

Ben Crawley, Director, Dunlop Motorsport

“Thank you to the 10 teams that chose Dunlop and congratulations to G-Drive Racing. We made a major commitment in replacing all our 2017 specifications for this season which shows how seriously we take open competition racing because our customers push us to go faster and further than ever before.”

The teams will next race in the European #lemans Series’ 4 Hours of Silverstone and the FIA World #endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Silverstone on 18th and 19th August.
