A weekend full of podiums for METZELER with the
riders Steve Holcombe, Jamie McCanney, Loic Larrieu, Eero Remes, Andrea Verona
and Davide Soreca in the third round of the Enduro World Championship that took
place in Castelo Branco
Castelo Branco (Portugal), 7 May 2018 - As was the case last season, Castelo Branco, a town approximately two hours from Lisbon, played host to the
third round of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship. It was a very successful weekend for
METZELER and for the riders supported by the tyre brand who battled for the entire weekend against the torrid temperatures of approximately 30 degrees and copious amounts of dust that characterised all three special tests.
The riders supported by
METZELER continue to dominate the
FIM EnduroGP World Championship. In Portugal, the most prominent figure was
Alex Salvini (Team JET Zanardo). The Bologna-born rider won both days of racing both in the
EnduroGP and the
E2 class on a Husqvarna 450 fitted with
METZELER MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME tyres.
On Day Two the Beta rider
Steve Holcombe gained an impressive second place in the
EnduroGP, to then win the
E3 class. It was also an excellent weekend for
Jamie McCanney, the official rider for Yamaha, who took the second place on the podium in the prestigious
EnduroGP with
METZELER MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME tyres on Day One after an incredible race.
Jamie McCanney, who stole the limelight in the
E1 class, ended the Portuguese GP with a victory on the opening day, and an excellent second place on Day Two. The English rider from the Outsiders Yamaha Team is ever more the undisputed leader of the
E1 class in the provisional rankings. It was a weekend to forget for
Davide Guarneri (Team Honda RedMoto), who pulled out on Day One after a nasty fall, fortunately without any serious consequences.
In the
E2 class, the Italian rider
Alex Salvini took home a fantastic double victory on
METZELER tyres
. Completing the podium in the premier class was
Loic Larrieu with a third and second
place,and
Eero Remes in third place on Day Two
. The
METZELER-supported rider
Steve Holcombe made his comeback in the race on Day One, finishing in second place in the
E3 class, while the next day he dominated, unchallenged, winning a day of racing rendered difficult due to the after-effects of an accident during the previous GP.
Team mates
Andrea Verona and
Davide Soreca fared well in the Junior class. On Day One,
Andrea Verona, with
METZELER MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME, picked up a win and a third place in
Junior 2, and a second place in the overall
Junior, while
on Day Two it was
Davide Soreca who won second place in the overall
Junior and
Junior 2.
The fourth round of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship is scheduled for the weekend of 2-3 June in Tallin, Estonia.
