Jeep Skills: the application that measures driving performance

The Jeep® brand debuted #jeep Skills, the innovative application developed to provide customers with real time information on their driving performance, at the third edition of #campjeep, that took place June 2 to 5 in Bassella, Spain.

A first in the #4x4 and 4x2 #suv category, #jeep Skills is available only on the Renegade in combination with the Uconnect 6.5" Radio Nav LIVE system.

The new application allows drivers to measure their driving performance, test their abilities on specific off-road courses and share their awards (badges) with other drivers in the #jeep Community via Twitter or the new Uconnect LIVE social platform.

By using #jeep Skills, customers can also learn about the off-road capabilities of the #jeep Renegade, better understand what it is able to do, and therefore fully exploit its potential. The pitch of the car, as well as the acceleration, braking, G force, position of the wheels and their slipping can be monitored in real time on the Uconnect 6.5" Radio Nav LIVE touchscreen so control is more direct and awareness is greater behind the wheel.

Accessing the new services is simple. All users have to do is go to the main menu and select from Uconnect LIVE, the new #jeep Skills application available in addition to Facebook | Check-In, Twitter, Deezer and the other functionalities Uconnect LIVE offers.

Jeep Skills lets users browse a number of pages. When choosing "Off Road", they can get feedback on their driving style and performance in real time through a set of specific parameters, including drive, roll, pitch, pressure and altitude. The "Gages" section, additionally, provides information on the battery level, oil pressure, temperature and steering angle. The data shown in "Dynamic" refer to G force, pressure on the acceleration/brakes, engine oil and water temperature. Lastly, information on performance, such as 0-50 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration, braking distance and speed are available on the "Timers" page.

When drivers select their favorite itineraries from the "Routes" menu, they can start their driving experience by viewing the selected course, accessing helpful information on that particular course and displaying their best driving performance among all those stored.

"My itineraries" instead offers the possibility to cover and record a personal route and call it up whenever needed. In that way, drivers can put themselves on the line and test their skills on their favorite off-road routes, send them to be judged by the #jeep Community to then extend them to all #jeep Skills users.

Based on driving performance and goals attained while driving along the recommended courses, drivers can receive an official award (badge). All awards won will be displayed on the "Badges" page, just like a virtual 'showcase'. Badges that can be won include: JEEPER, received the first time #jeep Skills is accessed; EXPLORER, won by sending a personal route for the opinion of the #jeep Community; and lastly, SPORT CLUB MAGGIORA, which is achieved when entering the Pragiarolo di Maggiora circuit, mapped as recommended trail. Every driver can then share awards won on Twitter and/or the Uconnect LIVE platform.

Thanks to #jeep Skills, the driving experience reaches a totally new level to make both the journey and off-roading on board the Renegade a unique and even more enjoyable, safer and better connected adventure. #jeep Skills is available across Europe on the Limited and Trailhawk trim levels of #jeep Renegade equipped with Uconnect Radio Nav LIVE 6.5'' ordered starting June 2.
