Dealership workshop is refurbished as demand soars

A #mitsubishi dealership in Norwich has renovated a workshop to meet demand for its expertise in servicing and repairs.

The family-run Constitution Motors, on Constitution Hill, already had a busy service centre nearby in Woodcock Road, but with more and more work coming in, the decision was taken to make a substantial investment to reopen a workshop area at the back of the showroom that had mainly been used as an overflow and by the three-strong valeting team.

Managing Director Ian Coates said: ‘It had been a bit neglected, so we sealed and repainted the roof, stripped and repainted the walls, resined the floor, and updated the heating and lighting.’

Master Technician Neale Sinclair and Technician Michael Hubbard now work there, and Ian added, jokingly: ‘We can’t get rid of the technicians now – it’s so nice they could live there if they wanted to! But seriously, they do like it, because it’s so light and airy.’

The renovation of the workshop, which boasts three ramps, took a month to complete.

Ian said: ‘I’m really pleased with the end result. It was certainly well worth the investment. It feels like the garage is complete again. It’s so beneficial, too, because it gives us a chance to meet our service customers when they come in here, and if they are here it generates interest in the vehicles.’

It’s been proving so popular, in fact, that Ian estimates that a bigger customer waiting area will be needed in six months. ‘It’s all about future-proofing to keep ahead of the game,’ he said.

Constitution Motors is truly a family-run dealership. Ian’s wife, Sue, is the After Sales Manager, while their elder daughter, Emily, 25, is the dedicated #mitsubishi Sales Manager and younger daughter, Alice, 23, is a Service Adviser, having taken over the role from Emily in January this year. And reinforcing the homely charm of the dealership are two newly acquired Labradors – six-month-old brother and sister Dexter and Willow, who are proving popular with customers!

Ian added: ‘Emily’s role is vital to the growth aspirations of Constitution Motors and #mitsubishi Motors in the UK. By managing the sales process, every inquiry into the business will be managed in a more professional and controlled fashion.

‘It also means there’s a great link, as she’d been seeing customers at the service centre and now they’re seeing her here, so having a familiar face here gives things a sense of continuity. People don’t mind as much coming to a different site – it’s reassuring for them.’

The dealership joined the #mitsubishi family in September 2014 and has gone from strength to strength, taking on more staff to cope with demand. It regularly earns the maximum five-star rating in customer satisfaction surveys carried out by #mitsubishi Motors in the UK, and last summer it became the official vehicle supplier for Premier League team Norwich City FC.
