February 10, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com has named the 2016 Jeep® #wranglerunlimited and the 2016 #dodge #grandcaravan winners of its 5-Year Cost to Own Awards.

For a second consecutive year, the #jeep #wranglerunlimited has been named the winner of the lowest 5-Year Cost to Own award in the Mid-size SUV/Crossover category, while the #dodge #grandcaravan has earned the 5-Year Cost to Own award in the minivan/van segment for the second time in three years.

The 2016 5-Year Cost to Own Awards honor the vehicles and brands (luxury and non-luxury) with the lowest projected ownership costs, based on Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost to Own data for new cars for the initial five-year ownership period.

“The #jeep Wrangler remains one of the most iconic American vehicles, and its legendary status is reflected in, among other things, its stellar 5-Year Cost to Own results,” said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst. “Americans love Wranglers, and that love affair is aided and abetted by its ‘smart buy’ status with low depreciation and maintenance costs.”

“The original minivan, the #dodge #grandcaravan, remains the champ in 5-Year Cost to Own by essentially running the table on the key ownership cost attributes,” Nerad added. “It costs less to buy; it is less costly to maintain, and it depreciates less rapidly than its minivan competitors. Plus, it offers a variety of creature comforts unmatched by others in its segment.”

When considering its 5-Year Cost to Own Awards, Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com takes into consideration depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees for all new models.
