SUZUKI Press Conference Speech The 84th Geneva International Motor Show
It is my great pleasure to come back to Geneva and present a new model to you again this year…
As you can see from our line-up, our expertise lies in SUVs from real off- roaders to crossovers, one of them being the SX4 S-CROSS launched here in Geneva last year. But in fact, we have more experience in making compact cars and the this know-how is also one of Suzuki’s core competence. And today, our all new A-segment model is making its European premiere. A new model developed through the collective technology of Suzuki, the small car expert.
Please let me speak about our global business outlook, first. For this fiscal year, we are expecting sales of 2.85 trillion yen, up 10.5% year-on-year, with an ordinary income margin of 6.4%, up from 6.0% in the same period last year. We have already achieved our mid-term business target of 6% ordinary income margin last fiscal year. And we are expecting to achieve mid-term sales target of 3 trillion yen soon.
With regard to the automobile sales volume, we have reached 2.69 million units in calendar year 2013, which is slightly above the preceding year. Here in Europe we have achieved 197 thousand units. Following the introduction of the SX4 S-CROSS in September, sales have been exceeding the previous year by 12%. And we believe that we can further gain this momentum in Europe with the introduction of new models.
And the next new model will be the car you will see today. It is born under development concept of “A+”, offering value that exceeds today’s A segment standard. Its thorough package provides best-in-class space utility and low CO2 emissions in an easy-to-drive compact body. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the new CELERIO. The biggest advantages of the CELERIO are interior roominess and environmental performance.
