Success at 2024 Salon du 2 Roues in Lyon

Lyon, March 12nd. The Salon du 2 Roues at the at Eurexpo Lyon, France was a great success, hosting more than 150,000 spectators during its four days from 7th to 10th March. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) was present for the first time with an exhibition space of over 300 m2.

Together with Spirit of Speed, the European Collectors' Club of historic road racing motorcycles, it had selected over thirty motorcycles that covered the history of the FIM which celebrates 120 years this year from 1904 to the present day.

The stand was packed with spectators during the many moments dedicated to them with the presence of the Champions: the fifteen-time FIM Grand Prix World Champion Giacomo Agostini, James Toseland, two-time FIM Superbike World Champion, the two-time FIM Supersport World Champion Sebastien Charpentier, Eugene Laverty, former 250cc, MotoGP, Supersport and WorldSBK rider and multiple FIM Endurance World Champions Greg Black and Etienne Masson. Finally, the French riders who will compete in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship which will start in Misano Adriatico (ITA) on 16th June, Emily Bondi and Ornella Ongaro

The Heritage Programme, the FIM Certification for Competition Motorcycles, launched on the 120th anniversary of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, aroused great interest. The Certificate issued by the FIM will give collectors the opportunity to obtain the identification plate which will certify the authenticity of the motorcycle, strictly coming from competitions: MotoGP, Superbike, Supersport, Endurance, Formula, Sidecar and Landspeed record.

Owners, collectors and museums will be able to boast the prestigious plaque and a QR code through which all the information relating to the technical and historical characteristics of the motorcycle will be available. The focus of the FIM is to protect and promote the authenticity of the motorcycle as a testimony to the heritage of inestimable sporting and historical value that the FIM represents.
