Citroën, official partner of the Tour de Corse

A faithful supporter of the Fédération Française du Sport Automobile for several years, Citroën is teaming up with the French round of the World Rally Championship, as official partner of the 2018 and 2019 editions of the Tour de Corse. For this #event, among the most legendary of the season, the Citroën #racing teams (Kris Meeke – Paul Nagle and Sébastien Loeb – Daniel Elena) will take to the road on 5 April 2018. The Brand is also celebrating its presence on the Ile de Beauté by highlighting its know-how and its models.

As the Tour de Corse 2018, the French round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), held its first official round with the shakedown at Sorbo Ocagnano on the morning of Thursday 5 April, Citroën is participating in this great celebration of the #racing sport in the most exciting way possible. By signing an official partnership agreement with the Fédération Française du Sport Automobile (FFSA), the Brand is becoming a major player in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the CORSICA linea – Tour de Corse.

This partnership will play out on the routes of this full tarmac rally, as well as in the Exhibitors’ Village. Citroën will provide the 15 cars for the coordination of the rally. The officials in charge of security and guests of the organisation will drive cars from the Citroën range: New C4 Cactus hatchback, New Citroën C3 Aircross Compact SUV, Citroën C3 and C4 SpaceTourer. Supporters at the Tour de Corse will also discover the Citroën C3 R5, which will be running as one of the zero cars. It will be driven by Alexandre Bengué, test driver for Citroën #racing. Two other Citroën C3 R5s are officially participating in the Tour de Corse via Citroën #racing, with Stéphane Lefebvre and Yoann Bonato, respectively, at the wheel.

From 5 to 8 April, Citroën will occupy a prime space in the Tour de Corse Exhibitors’ Village, located on the grounds of the Bastia-Poretta Airport. An area of over 300 m² will be dedicated to an exhibit of the Brand’s models (Citroën C3, C4 SpaceTourer Rip Curl, New C4 Cactus hatchback, E-MEHARI Styled by Courrèges, SpaceTourer Business Lounge XL), a C3 WRC showcar, a C3 WRC simulator and the official Citroën lifestyle products boutique. On 5 April at 4.30pm, a dedication ceremony with the nine-time World Rally Champion, Sébastien Loeb, will be held.

For Dominique Serieys, Director of CORSICA linea – Tour de Corse, “This partnership allows the FFSA to strengthen its long-standing relationship with a French carmaker. We were committed to partnering with a major name in the #automotive industry; the fact that we’ll be wearing the same colours is even more cause for celebration."

Arnaud Belloni, Senior Vice President Marketing & Communication Citroën, said: “Citroën and the rally share a long and rich history, with a record of 98 victories. A popular brand in the most positive sense of the word--that is, close to its customers--Citroën is perfectly positioned to strengthen its commitment to the WRC, a sport close to the people, particularly through this partnership with the Tour de Corse. In addition to the sporting aspect, it is an opportunity to meet a passionate public and to highlight our know-how and our newest models.”
