Honda back for CarFest North

  • Honda celebrates 25 years of Type R and Fireblade with special procession of heritage fleet
  • Second year as main stage sponsors
  • CarFest North kicks off this weekend at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire
Honda UK is back at CarFest for summer 2017. Coming to both North and South events in Bolesworth Castle and Laverstoke Park Farm, Honda will be bringing a unique and exciting blend of fun and excitement for all the family.
With this year seeing the brand celebrate 25 years of both Fireblade and Type R, Honda will be marking the silver anniversary with a special procession of heritage two and four wheeled icons in the hill climb across both North and South as well as prominent displays on the main stage. Visitors can also get involved with the anniversary by designing a car or a bike for the future with the winner taking home £200 worth of toy vouchers.
And when it comes to the Honda stand, Honda is bringing elements of the Honda Challenge Lab, last seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will bring to life the unique brand DNA, combining discovery, exploration and investigation to challenge our natural curiosity. Fun activities for the whole family will uncover the technological prowess and the quirky features that gives Honda its personality, and the joy of its products.
From Roar Power, demonstrating the power of the Type R, to Beat the Civic, which challenges visitors to test their reactions against the traffic sign recognition feature; there is also a Hot Seat challenge in the Jazz, CR-V and Civic, which is a photo booth with fun props and accessories. And finally, there is the ever-popular King of the Hell simulator where visitors can race the Type R around the famed Nurburgring.
Raising vital funds for BBC’s Children In Need charity via a family-oriented, high-octane blend of fast and exotic cars, celebrity guests and live music from some of the hottest acts around, CarFest is the brainchild of Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans.
CarFest North takes place this weekend (July 28-30) at Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire, and CarFest South at the home of ex-Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire over the August bank holiday weekend (August 25-27).
The Honda stand will showcase the award winning brand new Civic Type R which was launched to media last month in Germany. The first customers will be able to get their hands on the longer, lower and wider 320PS front-wheel-drive car in September. This will be going up the track alongside the new NSX, completing the new product line-up for Honda.
David Hodgetts, managing director of Honda UK, commented: “We are delighted to once more be at the popular CarFest events and supporting the BBC’s Children in Need. It’s a family event and we’re very much a family focused business. Our activity both on the hill and on stand will keep families entertained and excited and we especially enjoy seeing visitors sporting the summer’s must-have fashion accessory, the limited edition Honda sunglasses.”
Focusing this year on its all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) experiences, the TRX90 continues the fun-yet-educational theme for the 12-15 age group giving them the inside line on throttle control, slaloming, overcoming obstacles and balance, while the over 18s can try the full-size two-passenger Pioneer.
Under 12-year-olds can enjoy Catching Miimo, a fun game which sees children throwing sponge balls on to moving robotic lawnmowers. Given just five balls, the kids have to get three stuck on the body to win a limited edition pair of sunglasses.
The ride-on lawnmower challenge, named Mower Mayhem, is also available for 16-year-olds and above, and this promises competitive, yet hilarious, head-to-head racing around a timed garden course where lane control and garbage-grabbing skills will be the order of the day.
