METZELER leads the FIM Enduro World Championship with Holcombe and Garcia

At the end of the third round of the season, the riders equipped with tyres from the brand with the blue elephant are leading the rankings in the EnduroGP, Enduro2 and Enduro Junior classes

Spoleto (Perugia) 30 May 2017 - After the first three rounds of the FIM Enduro World Championship, METZELER riders lead the Championship in three different classes. From the 26 to 28 May, Spoleto hosted the GP of Italy; the third of the eight rounds scheduled for the 2017 season. The 98 riders involved in this GP enjoyed an amazing three Special Tests prepared by Spoleto Moto Club. This weekend, the heat didn’t stop the public from seeing, encouraging and supporting the great Enduro champions. Once again, the METZELER riders triumphed by securing a large number of podiums.

In the Enduro GP class Alex Salvini (Beta), winner of the Super Test in Puerto Lumbreras, secured the second best time (1'54 "68) behind the experienced Mike Brown (Husqvarna). At home, the Italian rider supported by his public kept the lead of the Akrapovic Super Test. He finished in second place on Saturday behind his Beta team-mate, Steve Holcombe.
Steve Holcombe (Beta) was one of the big guys this weekend and perfectly used the qualities of the METZELER Six Days Extreme. On Day 1, he was simply the best. Taking advantage of the DNF of Australian rider and former leader Matthew Phillips (Sherco), Holcombe took METZELER to the top step of the podium in front of his teammate, Alex Salvini. As the favorite rider at the start of the second day, Holcombe couldn’t stop Loïc Larrieu (Yamaha) from winning his first day of the season.
On Saturday, Frenchman Christophe Nambotin (KTM) had some difficulties but improved on Day 2, ending on the third step of the podium. On his side, Giacomo Redondi (Honda) failed to get on the podium and finished 4th on the first day.

METZELER also triumphed in the E2 class. Spanish rider Josep Garcia (KTM) scored twice and allowed his METZELER Six Days Extreme tyres to climb on the top step of the podium. This GP of Italy confirmed the talent of the young Spanish rider who also settles comfortably in first place overall in the standings.

We can add other victory to the impressive METZELER collection. In Junior category, Davide Soreca (Honda) honors the Six Days Extreme on Day 1. He was comfortably in front of his rivals by almost 20 seconds ahead of Swedish Albin Elowson (Husqvarna). On Day 2, Bradley Freeman was unbeatable but Soreca still found the way to climb on the last step of the podium.

At the end of this Italian GP, Holcombe becomes the leader of the EnduroGP Class while in E2, Garcia still demonstrates today that Remes will have some tough times this year. Soreca continues to win in the Junior category.

The next round of the World Championship will take place in Paradfürdo, Hungary, from 23 to 25 June 2017.
