Alfa Romeo Giulia: The First Cars Have Been Delivered

The first six Alfa Romeo #giulia cars, the brand's most authentic expression and symbol of entirely Italian-made excellence, have been delivered in Italy yesterday.
More in detail, a Montecarlo Blue #giulia Super 2.2 Diesel 180 HP was delivered in the Motor Village di Arese (Milan), a Vesuvio Grey #giulia Super 2.2 Diesel 180 HP was delivered in the Tamburini dealership in Arezzo, while four #giulia Super 2.2 Diesel 150 HP cars sporting Vesuvio Grey, Vulcano Black and Alfa White paintwork were delivered in the Bossoni showroom in Porto Mantovano (Mantua), the Marchi #auto showroom in Perugia, the Millenia showroom in Bari and the SCAR showroom in Ragusa.

This is a history-making day for the Alfa Romeo dealerships and the six owners who started the engines of their new cars and tested the enthralling driving experience sitting in the nerve centre of their New #giulia for the first time.
In addition to rear-wheel drive, a technical feature which pays homage to the most authentic roots of the Alfa Romeo legend, this model fits the first of a new generation of engines which represents the best in engineering technology and ranks at the top of their category in terms of performance and efficiency:
the 2.2 Diesel delivering 150 HP or 180 HP with six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission in addition to the 2.9 V6 Biturbo 510 HP petrol, which is the maximum expression of the "La Meccanica delle Emozioni" concept.
One of the goals of the design of the new #giulia was to maximise driving satisfaction by achieving perfect weight distribution and an optimal weight-to-power ratio. The longitudinal engine arrangement is a characterising element for reaching performance of excellence like this. Furthermore, the 2.2-litre is the first Diesel engine in Alfa Romeo history to be made entirely of aluminium. It is characterised by a next-generation MultiJet II injection system with Injection Rate Shaping (IRS) and an electrically actuated variable geometry turbocharger which is a mechanical gem.

With prices starting from EUR 35,500, the range features five trim levels: #giulia, Super, Quadrifoglio, Business and Business Sport, the latter two dedicated to company fleets, which were among the first to express great interest in the new Alfa Romeo model.

The delivery ceremony of the first cars was also the opportunity to celebrate another important acknowledgement gained by #giulia: five prestigious Euro NCAP stars with a 98% protection result for adult occupants. This is the highest score ever achieved by a car despite the more severe evaluation system introduced in 2015. This outstanding result was achieved by implementing two key elements: firstly, the adoption of a wide range of innovative safety systems, and secondly, the efficiency of a bodyshell that is light and rigid in equal measure, and makes extensive use of ultra-lightweight materials such as carbon-fibre, aluminium and aluminium composite.
