Michelin #supercar Paddock, Goodwood West Sussex, 26 June 2016 – The #michelin #supercar Paddock concludes its fifth year at the #goodwoodfestivalofspeed with the announcement of the first ever Showstopper Trophy presentations.

A shortlist of six supercars was identified by a combination of three cars chosen as ‘Showstoppers of the Day’ by way of a live ‘cheerometer’ system in the #michelin #supercar Padock, with a further three chosen by a #michelin #uk Facebook poll.

A panel of expert judges took to the #michelin #supercar Paddock Live Stage on Sunday afternoon to deliberate the six shortlisted cars and agree on one overall ‘Showstopper of the Festival’ winner.  Autocar’s Matt Prior, Evo’s Will Beaumont and Motoring Research’s Richard Aucock joined Michelin’s Peter Shaw, Goodwood’s Toby Langley and presenter and racing driver Amanda Stretton to cast their final votes for the overall winner.

Following lengthy deliberations, and a very close shortlist of stunning supercars, the overall Showstopper of the Festival title was presented to the #astonmartin #vulcan

Receiving the accolade at the #goodwoodfestivalofspeed, #astonmartin CEO Andy Palmer said: “We are absolutely delighted.  The #vulcan is a sensational car in every way – put together in record time by #astonmartin and all 24 examples sold out in record time, with the design team, the Q team, sales and marketing all coming together and doing a really spectacular job.  #vulcan has become a real icon, indeed a ‘showstopper’ as today’s accolade underlines. There was immense competition for this prize here at the Festival of Speed, so our thanks to our fans for the public vote into the shortlist and to the judges for their vote for #astonmartin today.”

Bigger and better than ever, and with a refreshed live-stage format, the #michelin #supercar Paddock 2016 was the busiest and most eventful to date, with major #product debuts from #astonmartin (GT12 Vantage Roadster, Vantage GT8), BMW (M4 GTS), #mercedesbenz (AMG GT R), Singer Reimagined (Porsche 911 4-litre), VUHL (05 RR) and many more, with special guest appearances from Keanu Reeves, Heston Blumenthal, Tobias Moers, Marek Reichmann, Paul Wallace, Sam Fane and others.
