METZELER SPORTECTM M7 RR elected by German magazine Motorrad as the best supersport tyre for the second time

Created in 2014 from the experience in road racing activities and already the winner of the comparative organized that same year by the renowned German magazine, SPORTEC™ M7 RR is confirmed again as the number one tyre in its segment

Munich (Germany), 27 May 2016 – SPORTECTM M7 RR, the tyre created from the experience of METZELER in road racing activities, won the 2016 supersport tyre comparative test organized by the German magazine Motorrad. The magazine tested the tyres of the SPORTECTM family, comparing them with Pirelli DIABLO ROSSO™ III, Continental Sport Attack 3, Bridgestone Battlax S21, Michelin Pilot Power 3 and Dunlop SportSmart2.

This is the second consecutive victory for SPORTECTM M7 RR in the supersport tyre comparative made by the renowned German magazine. METZELER won the comparative in 2014, in its first year, while in 2015 Motorrad did not hold a comparative test. After three years from its market debut, SPORTECTM M7 RR confirms itself as the undisputed leader in its segment, demonstrating how the technology applied to the project is still hard to match by other competitor tyre manufacturers.

The comparative was published in Motorrad 12/2016 issue, which is currently at newsstands, and was conducted using the following sizes on the ultimate Yamaha YZE-R1 ABS model: 120/70 ZR 17 for the front and 190/55 ZR 17 for the rear.

All six tyre models were compared in three test sessions: on track, in a wet test, and on provincial roads to simulate the daily use. Each test was awarded with a maximum score of 100 points, for a total of 300 points up for grabs to win the comparative.

Here below the final ranking and score:

1) METZELER SPORTEC™ M7 RR                                                             273/300 points

2) PIRELLI DIABLO ROSSO™ III                                                                  271/300 points

2) CONTINENTAL Sport Attack 3                                                                  271/300 points

4) BRIDGESTONE Battlax S21                                                                      269/300 points

5) MICHELIN Pilot Power 3                                                                           257/300 points

6) DUNLOP Sportsmart2                                                                                           251/300 points

The METZELER SPORTEC™ M7 RR placed itself commandingly in first position on the public road specific test, as well as snatching podium positions in the wet test and the track one, with an impressive third best lap behind the pole-product Pirelli DIABLO ROSSO™ III and the Bridgestone Battlax S21. The overall assessment of the Motorrad Testing Team has therefore awarded METZELER SPORTEC™ M7 RR as the absolute winner of the comparative, as it resulted in being the most balanced tyre with the best overall performance.

The comparative test took place in France at the Circuit Automobile de Karland in Mireval, owned by the Goodyear-Dunlop Group and on the road around the circuit for the road test.
