Following numerous further developments, the Mercedes-Benz Citan has become even more attractive. The modifications have been made with a focus on progressing to the Euro 6 emissions standard. With new optional extras ranging from a double passenger seat and a factory-fitted navigation system to a skylight and reversing camera, the #citan is now even more practical and individual than before. All new features are available to order with immediate effect.

The #citan is now low-emission in compliance with Euro 6

Since June, all Mercedes-Benz Citan vehicles registered as passenger cars
comply as standard with the Euro 6 emissions regulation. As of the same date, anyone buying a #citan registered as a commercial vehicle can also specify Euro 6 compliance as an option, more than a year before this becomes a legal obligation.

The new emissions standard has certainly made the #citan clean for the future:
all variants of the #citan with diesel engine achieve Euro 6 simply through internal engine measures and a storage-type NOx catalytic converter. No complex
SCR technology is necessary, so drivers of the #citan will no longer have to worry about using the extra service fluid AdBlue. The compact turbodiesel engine with a displacement of 1.5 l is available in three output categories from 55 kW (75 hp) through 66 kW (90 hp) to 81 kW (110 hp).

BlueEFFICIENCY package and more torque for diesel with Euro 6

The Euro 6-compliant #citan is available with BlueEFFICIENCY package.
Amongst other features, this includes an ECO start/stop function and lowers
fuel consumption for the diesel variants to just 4.3 l/100 km according to NEDC. The #citan achieves this outstanding consumption figure without compromising performance.

Progressing to Euro 6 increases maximum torque by 20 Nm for each diesel engine, to figures ranging between 200 Nm and 260 Nm. This translates into a noticeable increase in pulling power of around ten percent. Output remains unchanged ranging between 55 kW (75 hp) and 81 kW (110 hp).

The petrol-powered #citan: added torque, optional 6G-DCT dual clutch transmission

There is news, too, from the Citan 112 with petrol engine and Euro 6: this 1.2 l unit now responds even more powerfully. While the output of the engine remains the same at 84 kW (114 hp), in kickdown mode the engine now boosts torque in the short term to 205 rather than 175 Nm. This extra torque is provided in the second, third and fourth gear for a maximum of 20 seconds. It helps in situations such as overtaking, thus making it a further safety factor.

The Citan 112 is furthermore available as an option with a 6G-DCT dual clutch transmission. This six-speed unit combines the economy of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic. The transmission features two separate clutches; one for the even-numbered gears and one for the odd-numbered ones. During driving the next gear is already pre-selected, and it only takes fractions of
a second for one clutch to open and the other to close. The gear changes occur
at lightning speed and virtually without interruption to tractive power, thus making them almost imperceptible to the driver. The driver's work is also made easier by a crawl function and a Start-Off assist system.

The performance of the vehicle with dual clutch transmission remains the same as with the conventional six-speed manual transmission.

The little things that make life easier

On top of all this, the #citan features a whole range of new details to help make the daily routine that little bit easier. The driver is now kept up to date by instruments bearing the typical hallmarks of the brand with the star. The hand brake lever has also been redesigned. A handle on the inside of the tailgate makes it easier to close – so keeping hands clean.

Even more individual: practical new optional equipment

Thanks to new optional equipment, the #citan is now even more individual. "Long" models registered as passenger cars are available with a split tilting skylight above the front seats if desired. The glass is tinted and each half can be opened manually in the driving direction.

The #citan panel #van is made even more flexible with the new double passenger seat. Both seats have height-adjustable head restraints and three-point seat
belts. If nobody is using these seats the backrests can be folded forward, with
the centre backrest then acting as a writing surface if needed. There is a stowage compartment underneath the double seat, accessible from above by folding forward the single-piece seat cushion.

A new navigation system developed specially for the #citan points the way to
the destination. The device has a 1-DIN form factor and is operated via a touch-sensitive 3.5-inch screen. As well as GPS navigation with map material for Europe, the equipment includes a USB port, a micro SD card slot, an AUX interface and Bluetooth with hands-free functionality. The DAB+ digital transmission standard ensures excellent radio reception.

The new optional reversing camera makes manoeuvres easier, thereby boosting safety. The camera is hidden behind the licence plate holder on the tailgate or rear door. It is activated when the reverse gear is engaged. The camera picture is shown in the interior mirror, which dims automatically in bright light conditions. Reference lines help the driver to assess distances. Also new is the optional anti-theft alarm system for the #citan as a panel #van, Mixto or Tourer registered as a commercial vehicle. The radio remote control on the vehicle key is used to activate it.

New name: the #citan crewbus is now the #citan Tourer

Besides new technical features, the #citan crewbus also has a new name: the
#citan Tourer. This brings the nomenclature for the #citan into line with the new Vito.
